The Birth Story of Our Little Gwendolyn

Our little Gwendolyn May will be ten months old in just a couple short weeks! 😱 I can’t believe how fast time goes! Well… better late than never to share the story of her birth, right? 😜

Guys, my pregnancy was really hard! I was sick the WHOLE time and made more hospital trips than I cared for. The doctors encouraged me to take it easy, especially during my last weeks, so it makes sense that I was resting in bed when my water broke.Β I was only 38 weeks along, but was still getting pretty sick of being pregnant. So… you can imagine the relief.

Now, what’s it like when your water breaks? Well, after I realized I wasn’t peeing myself and stood up to rush to the hospital, I went through quite a few towels in the car! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜œ

By the time we got to the hospital, I still wasn’t having contractions, so they induced me with Pitocin. Contractions HURT, guys!! I was so grateful when the guy came in to give me that epidural… but… it didn’t work that well! Hahaha! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜œπŸ˜œ

My water broke around 11 at night, I started pushing around 8 am the next day, and she was out at 8:25 (or 27… I can’t remember the EXACT time). I can honestly say that labor and delivery was the hardest thing I have ever done, but I would do it all over again. Words cannot express the love and Β joy I felt when I first set eyes on my sweet girl. When they put her in my arms, tears ran down my face as I snuggled the most beautiful thing I had ever seen (they were happy tears, of course). And among all the other emotions I was feeling, relief was a BIG one!

I do have to say this, though: no one really tells you about the pain AFTER labor… I did tear, so that made it worse… BUT, I had so much help from everybody around me, especially from my wonderful hubby. 😘 For those about to have babies for the first time, this post of mine hasΒ proven to be helpful for many:Β Things I Wish I Knew Before My First Baby.

To conclude, here are some cute pics of Gwen as a newborn:

❀️ I love you guys! Thanks for reading! ❀️
